Lessons from the Side of the Road!
In our event programs, tell the kids that God moved Heaven and Earth to save them.  The Lord taught us that He moves Heaven and Earth to proclaim His Gospel, in spite of us. (John 3:16) We learned this lesson this summer.
Our "Sparrowmobile" broke down 7 times, we replaced: a water pump, power steering pump, power steering pulley, transmission, alternator, battery, serpentine belt (3 times), tire, idler pulley, brakes, brake pads, and in the beginning of the year, a/c compressor.  We were praying for a new vehicle, we just didn't know that the Lord was going to give it to us in parts. Ha!
After the first couple of times of being on the side of the road, Richard and I started praising the Lord and thanking Him for taking care of us.  You notice I said "after the first couple of times".  We had to learn a lesson about "Praising the Lord at all times". (Psalm 34:1)
Next lesson was that God takes care of us, (Psalm 37:25). The van broke down in front of a church, or a place of safety and the Lord made sure that our van was repaired in time to go to another event.  We want to thank our oldest nephew, Josh, he took off work to come and fix the van in Alexandria and in Dequincy.  We also want to thank my Mom and sister Julie, who came and drove us to our events; Mr. Gerald Carpenter of Lake Charles Auto Air, for making the major repairs and helping us out. We appreciate the churches and friends who privately helped us with the costs of the repair bills. We thank Pastors like, Bro. Chet Bush from Oxford, MS and Bro. Doug Hilton from Hornbeck, LA, who loaned us vehicles to get back and forth until our van was repaired.( Proverbs 17:17.)   We were humbled and blessed by all of their generosity.  We give all of the Glory and Praise of this amazing summer to the Lord.  He worked it out so that we could make all of our events, present and share the Good News of Christ. We saw many decisions for Christ, not only children, but parents and grandparents came to the altars.  The Lord kept us going, showing us that it is His ministry not ours and He will make a way for those to hear the Word.
Therefore since we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we do not faint.

2 Cor. 4:1 KJV

PEN FEATHERS

Would you be our prayer partners?  As our ministry is expanding, we are praying for a camper/trailer for us to use as we travel, as a mobile office. We are waiting on the Lord's timing and know that when we really need them, He will provide.  But He also tells us to ask and that is what we are doing.  This is God's ministry not ours and we trust Him to provide our needs.  So pray for us because, we want to reach the hopeless with the Hope of Christ!

Big Bird's Perch

A cheerful heart is a good medicine; but a broken spirit drieth up the bones.

Proverbs 17:22

The Usher
An elderly woman walked into the local country church. The friendly usher greeted her at the door and helped her up the flight of steps, "Where would you like to sit?" he asked politely.
"The front row please," she answered. "You really don't want to do that," the usher said "The pastor is really boring." "Do you happen to know who I am?" the woman inquired. "No." he said. "I'm the pastor's mother," she replied indignantly. "Do you know who I am?" he asked.
"No." she said. "Good," he answered.

Going To Church
One Sunday morning, a mother went in to wake her son and tell him it was time to get ready for church, to which he replied, "I'm not going." "Why not?" she asked. I'll give you two good reasons," he said. "(1) they don't like me, and (2) I don't like them." His mother replied, "I'll give YOU two good reasons why YOU SHOULD go to church. (1) You're 59 years old, and (2) you're the pastor!"
